iOS 16.2: Customize always on screen on iPhone 14 Pro (Max)

In iOS 16.2 you can now customize the always on screen of your iPhone 14 Pro and your iPhone 14 Pro Max. This way you can adjust the screen to your liking!

iOS 16.2 iPhone 14 Pro (Max): customize always on screen

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have a number of cool features that the regular iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus do not have. For example, the Dynamic Island (the replacement for the notch) shows off at the top of the screen and the camera is a bit better.

In addition, the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) also has an always on screen. This allows your iPhone to show the time (and background) of your lock screen when you’re not using or locking the iPhone.

You didn’t have many options to adjust during the release of iOS 16 and many iPhone 14 Pro (Max) owners also find the always-on screen much too bright. That has now changed with iOS 16.2 (currently still in beta). Now you can, among other things, turn off the background and no longer show the notifications on the screen.

To adjust the always on screen of the iPhone 14 Pro (Max), follow the steps below.

iOS 16.2: Customize Always On Screen on iPhone 14 Pro (Max)

  1. Open the ‘Settings’ app;

  2. Go to ‘Screen and brightness’;

  3. Scroll down and choose ‘Always on’;

  4. Turn off the slider for ‘Show wallpaper’ and ‘Show notifications’ as desired.

If you want to turn off the always on screen completely, that is also possible. You then have to turn off the slider at ‘Always on’ during step 4.
