It looks like the iOS 19 update will be one of the most radical software revisions in the history of Apple.
iOS 19 is the biggest update since iOS 7
The news about the iOS 19 Update is in a new report from Bloomberg. According to that report, iOS 19 would have some of the largest design changes that we have seen in more than ten years. In addition, Apple would also have similar updates for Macs and iPads. The goal is to make Apple’s platforms more consistent in this way.
The report also describes that the changes in iOS 19 go much further than a new design. For the iPhone it is reportedly the biggest renewal since iOS 7 in 2013. iOS 7 was a drastic redesign of the software interface of the iPhone. It laid the foundation for the operating system that we now know.
Also a major update for the Mac
For the Mac, Bloomberg says that macOS 16 will be the most important upgrade for the Mac since MacOS Big Sur was released in 2020. MacOS Big Sur introduced significant changes in the design of, among others, the Dock, and the reporting center.
Part of the renewal is that Apple updates the style of pictograms, menus, apps, windows and system buttons. The new design is loosely based on Visionos. Apple is also planning to simplify the way users navigate and operate their devices. What the company has also planned for the iOS 19 update and the other updates continues to wait. The report does not dive into specific details on design changes and new functions. According to a rather rumor, the camera app in the iOS 19 update is thoroughly revised.
Apple announces the iOS 19 update during the WWDC in June, followed by a few months of beta tests. The update will be released in September together with the iPhone 17.
