There are new rumors about the next iPad Air, likely coming in May. This iPad Air 12.9-inch gets a much better screen!

iPad Air 12.9-inch: Larger with a much better screen

You don’t have to wait very long for the next iPad Air (12.9-inch), because usually reliable Ross Young now says that new tablets will be available as early as May. The 12.9-inch iPad Air will then have a new mini LED screen, the same screen that you can already find on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

The current iPad Air (10.9-inch) still has an LCD screen. The switch to a mini LED means that the screen will soon be a lot brighter (for HDR content), have deeper black tones and more.

Ross Young recently said this on X (former Twitter). There it was further stated that the 12.9-inch iPad Air will use the stock screens left over from the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. He also said that an added benefit of switching to mini-LED was lower power consumption.

Since Apple doesn’t have an existing inventory of 10.9-inch mini LED displays, the smaller iPad Air will still keep an LCD as its screen.

The next iPad Pros (11- and 12.9-inch) will also receive significant improvements. According to rumors, they will switch to a new screen just like the iPad Air. Both Pros will then have an OLED screen. This means even better contrast and true black tones. These new models are expected around May.

iPad Pro expectations

Unfortunately, the new screen of the iPad Pro also has a disadvantage. According to rumors, this new display will result in longer delivery times, especially for the 11-inch model. This makes it smart to buy the tablet as soon as possible. Supplies are probably limited, especially because Apple has not previously made an 11-inch OLED screen.
