The iPad mini is a compact tablet with an 8.3-inch display, powerful performance, and support for the Apple Pencil. It’s the ultimate portable companion for enjoying multimedia, productivity, and creativity on the go.
The 6th generation was released in the fall of 2021 and had a completely new design similar to the iPad Pro. According to DigiTimes, we can perhaps expect the iPad mini 7th generation later this year, but it will not be a major update and the release date is doubtful.
iPad mini 7th generation
It’s likely that Apple will unveil the 7th generation iPad mini later this year. That’s what DigiTimes in a recent reportother analysts such as Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman of Bloomberg contradict this for the time being. Still, it would be a logical step for Apple to provide the smallest iPad with some improvements, but do not expect too much innovation.
Faster chip
The current iPad mini 6th generation uses the Apple A15 Bionic chip with a 6-core CPU. This powerful processor provides fast and fluid performance, allowing you to multitask, play games and use apps with ease. The iPad mini 7th generation will undoubtedly get a faster chip, possibly the A17 processor that will be announced later this year alongside the iPhone 15 series or an M1 chip.
Improved camera
It is likely that Apple will provide the iPad with an improved camera, both on the front and back. Although taking pictures with an iPad is not always convenient, the camera is mostly used for augmented reality.
Unchanged design
The design of the iPad mini has been drastically changed in 2021 and is similar to the current iPad models. This means tighter bezels, no unnecessary buttons and straight sides. The screen edge is also thinner and the same everywhere. The chance that the design of the mini will be renewed is small. You can expect new colors, but that’s it.

iPad mini 7 availability
The iPad mini 7th generation may be released in the fall of 2024. The current generation has a starting price of €659 for 64GB with only wifi. Whether Apple will increase the price and/or the storage is currently unknown.
