iPhone 11 vs iPhone 12: What’s Different?

The iPhone 12 will be released this week, after Apple unveiled the device earlier this month. We have to wait until November for the Pro and Pro Max versions. What is actually new about the iPhone 12 compared to the previous model? In this article we will dive deeper into that.

While there are no doubt many minor tweaks to the new iPhone model, for this article we will focus on the most glaring changes. Starting at the screen.

Difference in screen size

Apple unveiled four new models this month, namely the iPhone 12 Mini with a 5.4-inch screen, the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro with a 6.1-inch screen, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max with a 6.7-inch screen. -inch. The iPhone 11 appeared in just three flavors last year, with the regular iPhone 11 having the same screen size as the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro. The iPhone 12 Pro is smaller at 5.8 inches and the iPhone 11 Pro Max with 6.5 inches does not have as large a screen as the 12 Pro Max.

Same refresh rate

Prior to the reveal of the latest iPhones, there were rumors that the iPhone 12 Pro’s screen would get a 120Hz refresh rate with a ProMotion display (just like the iPad Pro), but these rumors turned out to be wrong in the end. ProMotion is a screen technology from Apple that ensures a high refresh rate, making everything run much smoother.

The iPhone 12 has a refresh rate of 60 frames per second, or 60Hz. Just like the iPhone 11, but also like many other smartphones. Only a few phones, including the Galaxy S20 and the OnePlus 8 Pro, have a higher refresh rate of 120 Hz.

Improved cameras

As is often the case with a new one iPhone, Apple has again tackled the cameras, especially those of the iPhone 12 Pro models. The cameras on the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini are most similar to those of the previous model, with the ultra-wide and wide-angle lenses and of course the selfie cameras. The camera’s night mode now also works for the ultra-wide angle lenses and selfie cameras, and an improved HDR mode should make it easier to shoot in dark environments.

The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max received a larger camera update and are equipped with a fourth telephoto lens to give more depth to your photos. The 12 Pro has the same 2x zoom telephoto lens as previous iPhones, but the Pro Max even features a five-fold optical zoom.

The latest iPhones are also equipped with 5G for the first time, so you will soon be able to enjoy the fastest internet. This makes the iPhone 12 seem ready for the future.

When the iPhone 11 appeared last year, the basic model had a price tag of 809.00 euros on the device, which was 50 euros cheaper than the iPhone XR, which was released in 2018. You now pay a little more than 500 euros for the iPhone 11 at various online stores.
