The iPhones are equipped with a USB-C port for the first time this year, but how quickly can you charge the iPhone 15 Pro? We will tell you how quickly the phone charges again!
First iPhone with USB-C
The iPhone 15 has now been released and, as expected, the phone has a USB-C connection. This is the result of European legislation, which states that all electronic devices must have a USB-C port by 2024. Apple has therefore decided that all new iPhones will switch from Lightning to USB-C this year. The big advantage of this new connection is faster charging and transferring data.

There were previously rumors that you can charge the iPhone 15 Pro much faster thanks to the new USB-C port. Now that Apple has announced the new phones, we also know more about the charging speed of the devices. That speed is somewhat disappointing, because the iPhone 15 does not charge faster than the iPhone 14. The charging times are unchanged with the iPhone 15.
iPhone 15 Pro does not charge faster
The iPhone 15 once again supports adapters with a power of at least 20 Watts. The phone can be charged with a maximum power of 27W. This is the same as with the iPhone 14 Pro (Max), with the iPhone 14 this was 25W according to previous tests. With USB-C it is possible to achieve higher charging speeds, but the iPhone 15 (Plus) and the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) do not support this.
Fortunately, fast charging is possible with the iPhone 15 (Plus) and the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). This is not very surprising, because the iPhone 8 (from 2017) and newer already supported fast charging. With the iPhone 15 you get a new USB-C cable as standard, which makes fast charging possible. This will charge your empty iPhone to 50 percent within about thirty minutes.
Buy a new block with the iPhone 15 Pro
For fast charging you must have the right charging pad, because this has not been supplied with the new iPhone for a few years. There is a good chance that your old block no longer works, because with the iPhone 15 you get a cable with a USB-C connection at both ends. Apple’s old charging pads have a USB-A connection, so the new cable no longer fits.
Moreover, these blocks often lack support for fast charging. Therefore, immediately order a new charging pad when you buy the iPhone 15, so that you can at least charge the phone. It is best to buy a 30W charger. We have already collected a few for you below. Then you can be sure that you have gotten the right one and that you will not pay too much.
- iPhone 15 charger (30W) at Bol.com for 29.95 euros
