‘iPhone 2023 has no notch, but facial recognition under the screen’

Good news for iPhone notch opponents. According to a reliable source, Apple will say goodbye to the hated screen notch in 2023.

Rumor: iPhone 2023 has no notch

Ming-Chi Kuo is on a roll. The usually reliable source of Apple rumors shared details about the 2022 iPhone’s camera earlier today and is now back with a message about its successor. According to Kuo, the iPhone 2023 has no notch.

This screen notch is still needed for the Face ID facial recognition sensors, but Apple would have found a solution. Kuo therefore thinks that the company will say goodbye to notch in 2023.

Details leave the Apple insider in the middle. Kuo only lets you know that Face ID will continue to work as usual. In that case, you can unlock the iPhone of 2023, which may be called iPhone 15, by looking at the front camera.

That selfie camera may be processed in a so-called ‘punchhole notch’, or a hole. Competitive Android phones have been using this solution for some time, including the recently unveiled one OnePlus 9 Pro.

Since the iPhone X from 2017, every new iPhone has had a notch. The screen notch is needed to process all the sensors to enable Face ID. However, many iPhone enthusiasts prefer to see the notch disappear.

We already know this about the iPhone 2023

Kuo previously shared his first expectations for the iPhone 2023. According to the Apple insider, the high-end model (comparable to the current iPhone 12 Pro) will have a fingerprint scanner under the screen. As a result, almost the entire front consists of actively used display.

In addition, in 2023 Apple would again release four phones in two sizes: 6.1 and 6.7 inches. The two high-end models, aimed at demanding users, seem to get a 48 megapixel main camera. Also, the 2023 Pro models will be able to shoot videos in 8K resolution, according to rumors.
