1. The fastest way to set an alarm clock or timer

Most people simply set an alarm clock or timer via the Clock app. And if you’ve done that often enough, you may be very fast at it. There are also people who have discovered that things can be done a little faster via Siri. But since iOS 18, Siri only needs half a sentence.

If you want to set a timer, all you have to do is activate Siri and say the number of minutes. And even if you want to set an alarm, activate Siri and name the time you want to be woken up. Siri does the rest for you!

2. Quickly clear numbers on the Calculator

Since iOS 18, the Calculator has a Backspace key. This allows you to quickly delete the last digit if you accidentally typed one too many. By tapping several times you also remove the other numbers. But this can also be done faster!

Do you want to remove all visible numbers at once? Then don’t tap the Backspace key endlessly, but press it once for a long time. The numbers then immediately disappear like snow in the sun!

3. Quickly arrange your home screens

If you have multiple home screens and want to arrange them differently, you will probably start by pressing a long time on an empty part of the screen. All the icons will then start to wiggle and you can adjust everything to your heart’s content. If you don’t want to change the home screens themselves but just change their order, you’ll do something a little differently.

It is better not to press long on an empty part of the screen, but long on the three dots in the bottom middle of the screen. You will then see all your home screens and you can immediately move them in their entirety to the desired location. It couldn’t be faster!

4. Update apps faster

Although apps are in principle updated automatically, this can sometimes take quite a while. If you want to check for updates for certain apps, open the App Store, tap your profile photo at the top right and scroll down. That can also be done faster!

Just long press the App Store icon. A quick menu will then appear and tap ‘Updates’. You will then be taken directly to the upcoming automatic updates. If you want to update them all, tap directly on ‘Update all’.

5. Quickly take a screen recording with sound

You probably already know that you can quickly take a screen recording via the Control Center. This allows you to make a video of what is happening on your screen. Useful if you want to show someone how to do something. However, such a video is normally without sound.

Fortunately, there is a super-fast way to ensure that sound is also recorded. At least then you can give some extra clues. This is also done via the Control Panel. Only now you press and hold the Screen Recording button. A menu will appear showing where your video will be saved and there will be a ‘Start recording’ button. Before you tap on it, first tap on the microphone at the bottom of the screen, so that it says ‘Microphone on’. Then you can start recording.
