Is acesulfamK another name for apartam? If not, what’s the difference? Formula, ….

According to the Internet, it turns out to be the same, but is this so?

Answer

Dear Ms,
aspartame and Acesulfame K are two completely different molecules. They also belong to two other classes of artificial sweeteners. Aspartame belongs to the peptide derivatives (a peptide is a piece of a protein), acesulfame belongs to the sulfamates. They have about the same sweetening power (200 times sweeter than sugar), but different stability: acesulfame K is more stable, especially in acidic medium than aspartame. Acesulfame K is also prone to a metallic aftertaste, which is of course undesirable; therefore it is usually combined with aspartame. Below you will find the structures:
Acesulfame K

Aspartame

Hopefully this has helped you.
