Answer

The IQ or “intelligence coefficient” has a normal distribution. That is, most people are around the average and fewer people are on the extremes (high and low). You can see a figure that shows this nicely via this link: http://images.flatworldknowledge.com/stangor/stangor-fig09_007.jpg

IQ is usually not referred to as ‘high’ or ‘low’, but rather as ‘weakly gifted’, ‘below average gifted’, ‘average gifted’, ‘above average gifted’ and ‘very gifted’ (there are also more subdivisions). used). So most of them have an average, below and above average IQ (between the scores 70 – 130, approximately). An IQ of 120 corresponds to above-average giftedness (sometimes abbreviated as “gifted”). It is located around the mean on the right side of the distribution. Giftedness is assumed from an IQ of 130. Exceptionally high IQs are at the right end in the extremes (e.g. it is estimated that Einstein had an IQ between 160-190) where only a 2% of the population belongs.

Important: don’t be blinded by a score. There are several tests that measure different forms of intelligence. All tests have to do with external factors that make a score not entirely reliable. For example, the conditions in which a test is administered are very important. If you are very tired you will not be as concentrated as when you are, which will affect your performance and therefore your score. It is therefore more often spoken of in terms of ‘day IQ’. For example, on that day and at that time of testing, someone scored 120. This is an estimate and can provide an important indication of when extra care might be needed. This will be the case when a test shows someone scoring very low or very high (in the extreme ends of the distribution).
