Dear Laura,

Starting the engine and letting it run for a few minutes is about the worst thing you can do.
Starting in itself requires a lot of energy from your battery. Running the engine for a few minutes is not enough to fully recharge the battery. By the way, your engine runs at a very low speed when you let the car run for a few minutes in a parking lot (so you charge the battery very slowly). That is why it is better to take a longer ride (half an hour) every week or every two weeks.
Or solution 2 (better for the environment and your wallet): buy a charger for your car battery (which you can plug into the socket). They are not that expensive and you save a lot of fuel and time.
