I would like to make a battery charger from a pc power supply. but I’m not sure if a pc power supply is stable enough, can supply enough current, can supply enough voltage. It is a 12V battery and the power supply can supply 12A at 12V. I measured the voltage coming from the power supply, which is around 11.3V. Maybe I can put the 12V and the 5V of the computer power supply in series and then add a resistor. I’m not sure what a good solution would be
Answer
It is in principle possible, but:
– the voltage of your power supply must always be higher than that of the battery
– it is doubtful whether the current of your power supply can handle the required current of the battery
