Is there really a fourth dimension?

Several teachers say that it has been mathematically proven that there is a fourth dimension. What should we imagine of the fourth dimension? Is this time, or a spatial fourth dimension?

Answer

In many branches of mathematics, more than 3, sometimes up to an infinite number of dimensions are handled smoothly. To say that the “math shows” that there are more than 3 dimensions is totally irrelevant.

Perhaps you mean that it can be “physically” demonstrated?

In our world of experience we know 3 spatial + 1 time dimension. Some physical models handle (handling is not the same as existence!) more dimensions.

Is there really a fourth dimension?
