Is this a meteorite?

Found this one in Morocco 20 years ago. I am sending a photo here. Would that be a meteorite?

Asker: Mouloud, 42 years old

Answer

Dear Mouloud,

At first sight it doesn’t look like the meteorites in our collection, too bumpy.

But you never know.

If you hold a magnet to it, what happens? if the magnet sticks, then there is real iron in it, then the chance that it is a meteorite is a lot bigger.

Does the stone feel heavy in the hand? Then the chance is slightly greater that it is a meteorite.

If you want to be 100% sure, it is best to bring your stone to the Museum of Natural Sciences to have it viewed by a specialist.

With only a photo it is actually impossible to know for sure whether or not it is a meteorite.
