John Vanderaart writes a column every week on pcactive.nl and one time it appears during the weekend, the other time during the week. His column You get somewhere again appears on this Sunday, last Sunday, his previous Column Copilot and HCC! Kennemerlandcopilot and HCC! Kennemerland appeared.

My wife was born and raised Haarlem. I come from the Bollenstreek-Periferie with Haarlem as the first big city. What to me the gateway (= the Tempelierstraat) to Haarlem is little more than a waste pit for my wife. After all: “Haarlem starts on the Grote Markt.” Anyway … as Haarlem my wife does Haarlem things and one of those things is ‘something’ at the Historical Association Haerlem (www.haerlem.nl) Which – not entirely coincidental – resides in the main guard – how could it be otherwise? – The Grote Markt. Yesterday afternoon was the opening of the exhibition Haarlem uprising And my presence was explicitly appreciated. It started at 16:00. I was only 45 minutes late, but the mood was already good! Sun, drinks, snacks, what more do the members of the Historical Association Haerlem want? Of course you ask yourself: “What did this go with HCC do?” Well, the chairman of HCC! Kennemerland is also doing ‘something’ at the Historical Association Haerlem and he immediately came to chat. Well, then the conversation soon comes on computers and HCC. “Haerlemse Computer Club” was a bit jokingly suggested … But of course it is about the ‘H’ of ‘hobby’, with a nostalgic look to the golden years of HCC (= more than 200,000 members). HCC no longer has so many members. We philosophized about that and we agreed that the computer itself is no longer a hobby. No, the hobby is in what you can do with the computer and where you can use the computer. Fair is fair, nowadays a computer has the appearance of a steam iron … and I did my best, but I have not been able to find a link to the steam iron Hobby Club anywhere … Fortunately, there is still enough hobby for us HCC-Nerds! And we took another note nut there.
