Facetime is increasingly being used by Apple users. Maybe you are not so fond of video calling, but you will undoubtedly have an audio call. Since iOS 17, iPados 17 and MacOS Sonoma you can record a video or audio message if someone misses your Facetime call.
That is a welcome addition, because you did not have a voicemail function for FaceTime calls before. With the arrival of audio or video message, this is now there.
Leave video or audio message
Whatever you called for, with no hearing you can simply record and send a video or audio message. This way you can still let the recipient know what you called for. If a FaceTime call is not answered you will see three options on the screen.
- Call again
- Take video/audio on
- Closing
The options speak for themselves, so you can immediately try to connect again with ‘call’ or close Facetime with ‘closing’. Choose ‘Take video on’ or ‘Take Audio’ to leave a message.

During the recording you can also use all Facetime video effects such as portrait mode or memoji.
Your messages can then be viewed by the recipient on the iPhone, iPad and Mac. In addition, these can also be played on Apple Watch. The video can be stored by the recipient.
