We will not see the long-awaited successor to Google Pixelbook next year. A Google spokesperson reported this during a Qualcomm press event in London.
No new Pixelbook for the time being
Chrys Tsolaki, Retail Partner Manager for Chromebooks at Google, told Trusted Reviews know that no new Pixelbook laptop will be released in 2022: “Nothing is coming next year. In the future, I don’t know.” Fortunately, Tsolaki didn’t rule out the possibility of another Pixelbook launch after 2022. So we will have to make do with this scarce information for a long time to come. There are also rumors that the new Pixelbook, like the Pixel 6, will get a chipset of its own making. That would be a processor based on ARM architecture, especially for Chrome OS devices.
The first generation Google Pixelbook was released in 2017. That was a Chromebook with high-end specs and a suggested retail price starting at $999. Because even the best Chromebooks were priced much lower at the time, the Pixelbook didn’t become the sales success Google may have hoped for. During Made by Google of 2018, Google suddenly came up with the Pixel Slate, a device that merges the Chromebook and Android tablet. The tablet runs on Google’s Chrome OS operating system for Chromebooks. In 2019, Google introduced the Pixelbook Go, a more affordable Chromebook with a Full HD and 4K version.
Since then, Google has not released a new Chromebook, but the Pixelbook Go is still for sale in the United States. The device is available there in different variants from $ 649 to $ 1399. The original Pixelbook was pulled from the shelves in September last year. All these Chromebooks and Chrome OS tablets have never been officially released in the Netherlands and Belgium.
