It happens to everyone from time to time: a fit of panic when you can’t find your phone. Usually it does not take long before you have found your smartphone again. Is your Android phone really untraceable? Then that is often not a disaster. With the Find my phone function you can (hopefully) find your device.
The Find My Phone feature uses Google’s location services to locate your smartphone. It is important that you smartphone is turned on and that you are signed in to your Google account.
Fortunately, the function is built in by default in various androidphones, including Google Pixel, and the option is usually already on. Even if you have an iPhone, you can try to find your phone this way. Note that some Android phones also have their own app to search for your phone. For example, on Samsung phones, this is called Find My Mobile. You give this app access to the location of your device even when it is offline. Then you can even back up your data to the cloud, block access to Samsung Pay and control your phone remotely.

If you want to use Google’s Find My Phone feature, you can this link to attempt. If you haven’t used the service before, you’ll probably need to give Google access to locate your device. Click on the device you are trying to search for and you will immediately be presented with various options. This way you can check recent events. For example, here could be: Facebook has gained access to your Google account. If you do not recognize the activity, you can secure your account. You can also locate and lock your phone from here or have a friend call your phone.
If none of this works, go to the next page. Here, Google will attempt to connect to your device. You can have a sound play or secure your phone by locking it and signing out of your Google account. You can also have a message or phone number displayed on the lock screen from here, so whoever finds your phone can contact you. For security, it is also possible to delete all data from the device. This is really a last resort: all data will be permanently erased and you can no longer trace your device.
