Make ginger oil yourself: this is how it works

Ginger oil – applied externally – not only awakens the spirits, but thanks to the gingerols it contains, it also promotes blood circulation, warms and helps to relax the muscles. And the best thing is: you can easily make ginger oil yourself.

To make ginger oil yourself, you need the following ingredients:

  • 250 ml Organic olive oil
  • 100 g fresh ginger (here you can find out how you Growing ginger yourself)
  • Cheese grater
  • ovenproof form
  • glass bottle
  • close-meshed sieve

It’s that easy:

  1. Thoroughly peel the ginger root.
  2. Use a cheese grater to slice them into the ovenproof form.
  3. Add the olive oil and mix the two together thoroughly.
  4. Now place the mold in the stove and let the mixture “simmer” for two hours at a low temperature (approx. 60 degrees).
  5. Then pour the ginger oil into the clean bottle through a sieve.
  6. Let it “mature” for two weeks so that it can develop its full aroma. Then it’s ready for use.

The ginger oil can be kept for about half a year after filling!

      Use ginger oil correctly

It is not for nothing that this versatile root has been an indispensable ingredient in Asian cuisine for thousands of years.       Ginger oil can also be used externally in different ways as:

      • compress
      • Aroma bath
      • Massage oil diluted with other oils

      However, you should note that home remedies are not necessarily suitable for everyone. For example, ginger oil used as a massage oil can cause skin irritation if it is not sufficiently diluted. If in doubt, seek medical advice again.
