Since iOS 17, iPados 17 and macOS Sonoma you can use shared passwords. This is part of a key ring and ensures that you can easily share passwords and passkeys with other Apple users.
Thanks to this position you can easily share passwords with family members and people who are not members of sharing with family. Once you have shared the login details, users can easily manage the passwords on their iPhone, iPad or Mac.
Family passwords
With the ‘family passwords’ function for iPhone, iPad and Mac you can easily share passwords and passkeys with a self -chosen group. This can be your family members, but also other users with an iCloud account. Conditions is that the people have been added to your contact list and use iOS 17, iPados 17, macOS Sonoma or newer. Manage
- Open the password app
- Click or tap the Shared Passwords Group in the list
- Choose ‘management’ on a Mac
- Tap the i-button on an iPhone or iPad

Under iOS 17, iPados 17 and MacOS Sonoma you can change this via (system) settings on your iPhone, iPad or Mac â–¸ Passwords.
All members can add passwords to the shared group and can also view and edit all login details. Members can therefore adjust passwords to parts that you have added. All data is stored encrypted locally and, if desired, synchronized with iCloud.
Because you can create multiple groups, you can easily share the login details of different apps and websites with the chosen members. This way you can share the login details for financial apps with your partner and streaming services with your partner and children.
Move passwords to group
Do you want to add a password to a shared group? Then you can do this in two ways. Open the shared group in passwords and select the Plus button. Then choose ‘Move passwords to group’ and choose the desired login details.

In addition, you can also put your finger on a password in the overview on your iPhone or iPad. Or click with a secondary click (right mouse button) on the password in the overview on a Mac. Then choose ‘Put in a group’ and choose a desired part.
