Manual persons (faces) Add to photos for Mac

Since macOS Sierra, the photos application can automatically recognize and generate people application. You can see found people by clicking on the information (i) button. An overview of found people can be found in the album ‘Persons’. If desired, you can also manually select faces and link it to people.

Sometimes the photos app may not recognize a face because it is partly covered or is not clearly visible. This can also be the case for pets, for example. By selecting faces manually you can link them to a new or existing person.

Steps manually add people

  • Open the relevant photo
  • Enter the key combination cmd⌘ + I out or click on the info button (i) in the button bar
  • Then click on ‘Add faces’ (plus button_

A circle opens in the photo with a ball and a cross. Click on the ball and drag it to make the circle larger and fitting. Then place the circle on a face, fill in a name and choose a contact person/name. You can repeat this by always clicking on the Plus button in the Infovenwife next to the already added persons.

Repeat this for all faces that are not automatically recognized by photos. The results will then be synchronized with all your other devices. Unfortunately it is on an iPhone or iPad not Possible to manually select faces on photos.
