Marigold flowers bloom from June to September. During this time, you can harvest the flowers to make marigold oil yourself. For this you need:
- a screw jar
- 1-3 handfuls of marigold flowers
- cold pressed olive oil or Sunflower oil or Jojoba oil
- a brown (pharmacist) bottle
That’s how it works:
- First boil the screw-top jar in hot water.
- Then add the marigold flowers and then fill it with the oil. All flowers should be covered with oil.
- Close the jar tightly with the lid and then leave it in a warm, dark place for about six weeks.
- Shake the mixture thoroughly every day.
- Finally, filter the finished marigold oil through a thin cloth into a brown bottle. The oil should be stored dark and cool and can be kept for about a year.
