iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 include several major changes, new features and capabilities. This includes the brand new control panel, personalize home screen, new Photos app, extensions for calculator, passwords application and much more. In addition, iOS 18 also contains a lot of small changes that benefit daily use.
This includes reminders in Calendar, new iCloud overview, changing Siri’s name, silent mode for CarPlay and more. Below you’ll find the first part of even more minor changes in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.
Adjust the flashlight in detail
The flashlight is a commonly used feature on an iPhone. In previous versions of iOS it was already possible to adjust the light intensity, but from iOS 18 you can also change the width of the light beam on an iPhone 15 (Pro) or iPhone 16 (Pro).
Activate the flashlight from the Control Center or Lock Screen and swipe the animation up or down for more or less light. And swipe left or right to change the width.
Multilingual keyboard
It was already possible to use multiple keyboard languages at the same time. But it was necessary to switch between the keyboards. Still, the keyboard understood your input and the suggestions were tailored to other languages.
Starting with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, Apple has improved this and you can now use up to two languages simultaneously in one keyboard. The software recognizes the input and adjusts QuickPath, spelling checker and suggestions, among other things. You can add keyboards via Settings ▸ General ▸ Keyboard.
Search suggestions in Settings
It has been possible to search in the Settings app for some time and since iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, Apple has further expanded search. From now on you will see useful suggestions under the search bar. These relate to your previous searches, but also provide suggestions based on the time of day or what you are doing on your iPhone.
Hidden power button
From iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 you can use a completely new control panel. You get complete freedom to adjust the controls and arrange the panel according to your own preferences. Thanks to this change, Apple has decided to introduce a convenient power button. Open the control panel and a standby button will appear in the top right corner. Place your finger on the power button for a few moments to switch off the device.
