iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia and watchOS 11 include several major changes, new features and capabilities. This includes the brand new control panel, personalize home screen, new Photos app, extensions for calculator, passwords application and much more. In addition, iOS 18 also contains a lot of small changes that benefit daily use.
This includes reminders in Calendar, new iCloud overview, changing Siri’s name, silent mode for CarPlay and more. Below you’ll find the first part of even more minor changes in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.
Adjust video speed in Photos app
The Photos app has a new option to change the frame rate of a slow-motion video after they’ve been captured. In previous versions this was only possible while creating a video.
Open a slow-motion video in the Photos app and tap the edit button (three horizontal lines with dots), then tap the speed symbol at the top of the screen. Then choose a desired speed. On a Mac you can also adjust this by clicking the dropdown menu with the fps rate at the bottom of the video while editing.
Free storage space for Mac Apps
App downloads and installations from the Mac App Store no longer require double the available local storage space. Instead, the free space requirement now corresponds to the final installation size of the app, plus a small buffer. Previously, you had to have twice as much storage space available.
AirDrop view Mac
Using AirDrop you can easily share photos, files and other things wirelessly with other Apple users or devices. Starting with macOS Sequoia, the appearance of AirDrop has been adjusted. The new AirDrop user interface shows a progress bar and gives you the option to view the file in Finder once the transfer is complete.
Dark display stopwatch
The Stopwatch app for Apple Watch has had a completely dark display again since watchOS 11. In watchOS 10, Apple changed that to a completely white background, much to the dismay of users. Apple has now adjusted this again and the app is better aligned with the other apps.
