Since the introduction of MagSafe for iPhone, various accessories have come onto the market that you can ‘stick’ to the back of the iPhone. Not only chargers or external batteries, but also card holders with MagSafe. New is the Mix & Magsafe by Valenta.
This is a Magnetic card holder made of aluminum for iPhone. Not only does it fit more cards than Apple’s own card holder. You can also use it in combination with a real wallet. This allows you to use both solutions to store your travel, savings and payment cards.
Why a card holder with MagSafe?
Nowadays, a lot can be done via your smartphone; checking in on the train, showing your customer cards or paying for a cup of coffee. Those who use Apple Pay will soon discover that their wallet often stays in their pocket or bag.
Perhaps a card holder with MagSafe is a solution. You can easily put your most used cards in the holder and ‘stick’ it to the back of your iPhone. This way you have important travel, savings and payment cards at hand, but without having to carry a full wallet.
Mix & MagSafe by Valenta
There are several MagSafe card holders for sale on the market for iPhone. Apple also sells a version made of FineWoven. Unfortunately, this material is not a success and quickly shows cracks, discoloration and scratches. Fortunately, there are enough alternatives and one of them are the MagSafe products from Valenta.

This way your cards are physically protected thanks to the aluminum housing, but it also has a extra lock to prevent bank cards from falling out of the card holder.
In addition, this card holder protects your valuable information with its RFID blocking technology. This prevents malicious parties from unauthorized scanning of your cards or stealing associated data.
Space for at least six cards
The Valenta aluminium card holder offers space for seven cards the size and thickness of a normal bank card. The card holder is shielded and therefore also safe for your credit cards. Please note that if you put a credit card in the holder, there is less space available and you can fit a maximum of six, this is due to the thick numbers on the card.
Handy sliding system with lock
On the side of the card holder you will find a button that you can push down. Immediately a slide-out system is activated and the cards pop up. This makes it easy to take them out, use them and put them back.
If you push the button all the way up, the lock will be activated. This ensures that the cards cannot fall out of the holder. This is especially useful if you add less than the maximum number of cards. It is even possible to store only one card in the holder, the lock ensures that it does not fall out. With other MagSafe wallets, you have to fill the holder completely to ensure that the cards do not fall out.
No Find My support
Unlike Apple’s second-generation or newer MagSafe Card Holder, Valenta’s MagSafe Card Holder does not support the Find My app. With Apple’s Card Holder, you will be notified when it is disconnected from your iPhone, and you can view the “disconnected location” in the Find My app.
In addition, you can link Apple’s Wallet to your Apple Account and enable a Lost Mode, so that people receive a notification when they confirm the card holder on their iPhone. If you want to be able to find the Valenta wallet with the Find My app, you can add a tracker to the card holder, such as the Nomad Tracking Card or Chipolo CARD Spot.
MagSafe wallet
Another great advantage of the Valenta card holder is the leather wallet with MagSafe. You can’t attach it directly to your iPhone, but you can attach the aluminum card holder in the wallet.
Inside the Wallet is a MagSafe ring that serves as a mounting location for the aluminum card holder. You can see this wallet as a card holder cover and offers space for about 4 extra cards.
In addition, there is a storage for banknotes, receipts and you can put coins in the designated storage space with zipper. Just like the card holder, this storage is also equipped with RFID protection.
Powerwallet
I haven’t tested it myself, but Valenta also has one in their range MagSafe Powerbank of 5,000 mAh which is only 9mm thick. It is, according to them, one of the thinnest power banks in the world. Of course you can attach it to your iPhone with the help of MagSafe, but also in their MagSafe card wallet. This makes the power bank fit seamlessly into the Mix & MagSafe lineup.
This allows you to store the power bank in your wallet and always have it at hand. When you want to use it, take it out of the wallet and remove the card holder from your iPhone. Then you can store it in the wallet, while you ‘stick’ the power bank to your iPhone. Handy.
MagSafe Wallet in practice
The Valenta card holder with MagSafe is easy to use. Thanks to the magnetic connection, you click it on the back of your iPhone and that’s it. You can click the holder on your iPhone in two ways. Directly on the device or on an iPhone case of MagSafe.
If you use an iPhone case, it must be equipped with a MagSafe ring. This is the only way to properly ‘stick’ the card holder to the case, otherwise the magnetic connection is too weak.
The card holder stays in place, even when you put it away in your trouser pocket. Of course, a narrow trouser pocket can cause some friction, but the aluminium card holder stays neatly in place.
When using the card holder, you can remove it from your iPhone and push the cards up via the slide-out mechanism. The cards in the card holder stay in place and do not fall out thanks to the extra lock.
Do you want to take more cards or cash with you? Then you can attach the aluminum card holder in the designated card holder cover. You then have a full wallet in your pocket with all your cards, receipts and money. Handy if you are going out for a day and only use the card holder separately for short trips.
The size of the card holder is of course an issue. For example, it has a size of 98 mm high, 62 mm wide and 9 mm thick. For comparison, the Apple card holder is 94 x 64 x 5 mm, but it can only hold three cards and they are less well protected.

I am pleasantly surprised by the Mix & MagSafe system from Valenta. I was looking for a solution to carry more than three cards and a sturdier holder than the one from Apple. My MagSafe Wallet from Apple was quickly damaged and the seam at the top broke.
Of course, the Aluminum card holder is a bit bigger and thicker, but when using the iPhone I hardly notice it, as I was already used to a card holder on the back of the device.
Because you can also ‘stick’ the card holder in a card holder cover, you can also make a full-fledged wallet with extra cards, money and receipts. That offers extra possibilities, especially if you are going on holiday or a day out.
