Move passwords to shared password group on iPhone, iPad or Mac

Since iOS 17, iPadOS 17 and macOS Sonoma, you can use family passwords. This is part of Keychain and ensures that you can easily share passwords and Passkeys with other Apple users.

Contrary to the name, you can also share these passwords with people who are not members of Family Sharing. We explain how to easily move passwords to shared password group on iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Create password group

You can easily create a new shared group for passwords and Passkeys. To do this, open Settings ▸ Passwords on your iPhone or iPad or ▸ System Settings ▸ Passwords on your Mac. Then tap or click the plus button and choose ‘New shared group’.
