On the iPad it is possible to receive mail from different accounts. Each email address you add to the iPad will have its own folder in the Mail app.
App Mail
The default Mail app on the iPad creates its own mailbox for each email address you add. These mailboxes are neatly arranged under each other in the app. Each mailbox contains mails from one mail account and is given its own name. Handy if you have multiple email accounts or if the iPad has multiple users. Each user then selects his own mailbox and gets to see his own messages. In this tip, we’ll discuss the steps for an iPad with iOS 12 or later.
Add your own mail account
Add your own mail account as follows:
- Tap on Institutions.
- Tap on the left Mail. For iPadOS 13 or earlier, tap Passwords and Accounts.
- Tap on Accounts. For iPadOS 13 or earlier, skip this step.
- Under the heading ‘Accounts’, tap New account.
- Show some options. The Google option adds a Gmail address. We’ll add an Outlook.com email address. This option is also intended for Hotmail and Live.nl addresses. Tap on Outlook.com.
- Tap on Email address, phone number or Skype name and enter your Outlook.com, Hotmail or Live email address.
- Then tap Next one.
- Enter your password and tap To register.
- Tap on Yes.
- The new window shows which data will be imported. You can leave it that way. Tap on Keep.
The account has been added. You can add multiple accounts to the Mail app this way.
Open your own mailbox
- Tap on Mail to open the app.
- On the left are the created mailboxes. Tap your own mail folder.
- The folder opens. Under the bold heading ‘Incoming’, you will see all mail messages that you can then open.
- The left menu in which you can see your inbox remains open, while you can view the clicked mail on the right.
