Netflix relaxes rules
Netflix applies increasingly strict rules when watching series and films. It is no longer allowed to share your account with users outside your household, because you now have to pay extra for this. Another limitation that Netlfix introduced years ago has to do with capturing screenshots. It is not possible to take a screenshot of Netflix on your iPhone or iPad.
The company did this to prevent screen recordings from being shared from series and films. The disadvantage of this is that you cannot take a screenshot of a certain scene, because the screenshot of the Netflix app turns completely black. That has now changed, because Netflix finally allows you to share moments on your iPhone and iPad. That’s how it goes!
Take a screenshot of Netflix
Taking a screenshot is usually done by pressing the bottom volume button and the lock button of your iPhone at the same time. Unfortunately, that is still not possible on Netflix, instead the streaming service has introduced a special ‘Moments’ button. This button appears when you tap the screen once while watching a series or movie on Netflix.
The new feature allows you – as the name suggests – to share a specific moment from a series or film on Netflix via your iPhone or iPad. Once you have captured a moment, a screenshot of the series will appear on the screen. In this image you can see the season, the episode and even the minutes and seconds of the moment. Would you like to share the scene? Then you can share a link to the precise moment via social media such as WhatsApp or Instagram.
Moments available now
Netflix finally makes it easier to share certain moments from films or series, but unfortunately still does not allow taking a direct screenshot. The new ‘Moments’ feature is now available to all iOS users. Have you shared the link with a contact? Then the series or film starts exactly at the time you chose. Of course, this requires a subscription, otherwise you cannot open the link.
So it is mainly a smart way for Netflix to attract more subscribers to the streaming service. Users with a subscription can take a screenshot of the moment on Netflix with their iPhone, but the link can only be opened if the other person also has a subscription.
