Never get lost at Schiphol again with Google Maps: that’s how it works

Do you also get lost at Schiphol? Fortunately, Google Maps always knows the way. This is how you navigate through the largest maze in the Netherlands.

Google Maps Schiphol: Never get lost again

You have been using Google Maps to navigate everywhere for years. Although the Dutch roads and streets often still have some logic, Schiphol is one big maze for many people. The largest Dutch airport has more than 100 gates and at least as many shops, cafes and restaurants.

Fortunately, Google Maps now also points the way at Schiphol, so that you never get lost again. That is how it works:

  1. Update Google Maps or download the app from the App Store;
  2. Search for Schiphol (if you are not at the airport at the moment);
  3. Zoom in on the map to see all shops, gates and baggage belts;
  4. Tap the numbers at the bottom left to see the different floors.

When you are at the airport it is possible to get step-by-step instructions on how to walk. To do this, your iPhone must be connected to the WiFi network of Schiphol, so that your location can be determined. As soon as you search for your departure hall, for example, you will immediately see how long the walk will take and where exactly you need to go.

A first

Until now, Schiphol is the first Dutch airport where you can also navigate inside with Google Maps. Lelystad Airport and Eindhoven Airport fall under the same parent company as Schiphol, but you will still have to find your way here.

The function to navigate through Schiphol has been in Apple’s Maps app since the end of 2017. It seems that navigation apps are getting more and more options to navigate within.
