Apple is currently testing various software updates including iOS 18.3, iPados 18.3 and macOS 15.3 for iPhone, iPad and Mac. The updates are expected on January 27 and not only solve problems, they also add new functions.
The most important additions can be found for Apple Intelligence in Engels (US). Unfortunately you can’t just use Apple Intelligence in the EU, but luckily there are other new possibilities. For example, the new software updates include summaries for reports, more options for Visual Intelligence and the AI ​​function is automatically switched on. Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence is a personal intelligence system for Mac, iPhone and iPad that combines the power of generative models with the individual context of the user. Since iOS 18.1, iPados 18.1 and macOS 15.1, users can use this Apple Intelligence functions on supporting devices. From iOS 18.3, iPados 18.3 and macOS 15.3 the new possibilities below are added.
- Automatically switched on – In countries and languages ​​where Apple Intelligence is available, the function is automatically switched on from the new software updates.
- Visual Intelligence – On iPhone 16, Visual Intelligence can be used to identify objects and places around you using the camera regulator (more info). From iOS 18.3, the tool can also recognize and add agenda appointments.
- Important notifications – With this option the most important reports appear on top of the pile. And long or stacked notifications are summarized on the access screen, so that you immediately see what is happening, ideal for group treasure. There is also a new focus, reduce interruptions. This allows you to concentrate better on what you are doing, because only notifications are shown that you might have to respond to, for example if a child has to be picked up earlier from the daycare.
- Summaries for reports – Apple Intelligence can already summarize reports, but from iOS 18.3 this is eliminated for news and entertainment because the AI ​​function sometimes summarized the reports in the wrong way and thus created ‘fake news’.
The possibilities of Apple Intelligence are great, but actually only reserved for users in the United States. Apple Intelligence will first be available in English, next year other languages ​​will also be added. If desired, you can test Apple Intelligence in English outside the US, but in principle this is not possible in the EU.
Through Digital Markets ACT law, Apple has decided to block Apple Intelligence in the EU. Via a detour it is still possible to test Apple Intelligence on iPhone, iPad and Mac, also in the European Union. Here you have to take the necessary actions that will properly change the use of your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
