Our New to Netflix guide keeps you up to date with the must-see series and movies every month.
1. Arrival
In this special film, aliens on Earth end up in a strange ship. It is up to a linguist hired by the United States military to initiate communication with these creatures. The film, starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner among others, is extremely exciting and smart. Arrival is not only about the potential danger of the aliens and the war that threatens to break out between countries, but also about the role of language in our world.

2. Disenchanted
From the brain of Matt Groening (The Simpsons, Futurama) comes a new animated series exclusive to Netflix. This time, Groening uses a fantasy setting to tell his stories. In the series, you follow the rebellious and alcoholic Princess Bean, who join an elf and a demon on an adventure in the kingdom of Dreamland. The first season consists of only ten episodes of about 25 minutes, but there is a good chance that many more seasons will follow.

3. Better Call Saul
The fourth season of Better Call Saul starts on Netflix this month. Unfortunately not all at once, because just like previous seasons you get an episode every week. How does Jimmy go about his life now that he is no longer a lawyer? The series is moving further and further towards the original Breaking Bad and this season a character from that series also appears. However, it is too early to see Walt and Jesse.

4. I Am a Killer
In this Netflix documentary series you follow different people in prison. This time not innocents who think they have been imprisoned unfairly, but murderers who know what they have done and now want to talk about it. The series is not intended to gain sympathy for them, but offers a unique glimpse into the minds of these sick minds.
Airing on Netflix from 3 August
Doctor Who (season 10)
The role of The Doctor will soon be taken over by Jodie Whittaker, but before that you can see the final season starring Peter Capaldi this summer. Together with his companions Bill Potts and Nardole, he travels through time and space again this season to experience a new adventure in each episode. For his special farewell, this twelfth Doctor also meets a very old ‘friend’.
