New on Netflix: August 2019
Netflix makes a slew of new series and films available every day. On iPhone we look ahead every month at the new offer with the best tips. These are often new series and films, but also old favorites that appear on Netflix.
All you have to do is put the series and movies on your list, or press play when the time comes. Our New to Netflix guide keeps you up to date with the must-see series and movies every month.
1. Mindhunter (season 2)
We had to wait a while, but the second season of the exciting Mindhunter will finally be released in August. Our favorite FBI agents return to delve into serial killers’ thinking.
With some well-known, tragic things this season. Striking detail: actor Damon Herriman will play Charles Manson this year in both the second season of Mindhunter and the film Once Upon a Time… in Quintin Tarantino’s Hollywood.
Airing on Netflix from 16 August

2. GLOW (season 3)
The ladies of Glow are back and they are all going to Las Vegas this season! It is also nice that none other than Geena Davis is participating this season, as Sandy Devereaux St. Clair. She arranges the entertainment for the Fan-Tan Hotel and the accompanying casino. A nice place for the wrestling ladies to perform.
Airing on Netflix from 9 August
3. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance
In a striking action, Netflix makes a prequel to the 1982 film The Dark Crystal. The series will have ten episodes, in which you get to see more sides of the fantasy world of Thra. The film is being made in collaboration with The Jim Henson Company, so expect puppets instead of computer images. The voices are provided by Sigourney Weaver and Lena Headey, among others.
Airing on Netflix from 30 August
Dear White People (season 3)
It’s time for the characters in Dear White People to do something different. Lead character Sam has quit her radio show to work on a movie. Lionel quits his research to learn about Winchester’s gay culture and Troy tries to find his place at a humor magazine, where he is the only black employee.
Airing on Netflix from 2 August
5. She-Ra and the power princesses (season 3)
She-Ra keeps fighting, because the seasons of this fun animated series follow each other in rapid succession. We had the second season in April and now the story continues. Secretly, this is of course mainly because the makers put relatively few episodes in a season. Funny detail is that just like in the new season of Glow, Geena Davis also shows up in season 3 of She-Ra!
Airing on Netflix from 2 August
