Console Wars
Xbox and PlayStation are currently fighting a real ‘console war’ with their latest generation of game consoles, but in the early 1990s, two other companies were in power in the world of video games. Nintendo and SEGA competed in quite rival ways. This entertaining documentary looks back on this period with various main characters. How did SEGA come to power with the help of a blue hedgehog, and what ultimately led to the game console manufacturer’s downfall? Among other things, the internal struggles within SEGA are discussed. Expect a lot of nostalgic (video) images and archive recordings of gaming children. Console Wars can be seen on Videoland from March 2.
The Next E-Talent: Team Gullit
There is now a considerable market for professional e-athletes. In that context, Ruud Gullit and Koen Weijland (professional e-athlete) are looking for the greatest FIFA talent in the Netherlands in this talent search. The flush is large, because in our cold little country alone, about 1.5 million people already play this popular football game. In addition to the right game skills, more is needed to succeed as a successful e-athlete. For example, you have to sell yourself well online and bind as many followers as possible via social media posts. The best candidate emerges from the eleven participants on the basis of various assignments and challenges. The winner takes a place in the well-known e-sports team Team Gullit. The first two broadcasts will be on Videoland on 2 March, after which a fresh episode will be added every week.
McQueen
Videoland will put various interesting documentaries online in March, including McQueen from 2018. This compelling story focuses on the striking fashion designer Alexander McQueen. The Briton led a somewhat secluded life in his youth, developing a passion for drawing. Several major fashion brands managed to get him as a designer, after which he started a fashion brand under his own name. He designed clothes for stars such as Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, David Bowie and Lady Gaga. Unfortunately, the success within the tough fashion sector took its toll. Alexander suffered from depression and often turned to hard drugs. He did not recover from his mother’s death in 2010. A short time later, the well-known fashion designer took his own life at the age of forty. Watch this widely acclaimed documentary from 15 March.
The Blacklist (season 8)
Attention fans of The Blacklist! From March 13 there is a brand new season on Videoland. As soon as fugitive criminal Raymond Reddington (Red) turns in on his own initiative, the FBI has gold in their hands. Red has a black list of criminals and terrorists that he wants to target with the police. One tricky point is that Raymond Reddington only wants to talk to FBI newcomer Elizabeth Keen. In season eight, the ‘collaboration’ between the two reaches a boiling point. As a result, this entails the necessary challenges in the field of detection. Season nine of The Blacklist has already been announced.
