Passion for research, for innovative multimedia formats and for communication-at Fast Forward Science, everything revolves around people who not only burn science themselves, but can also inspire others. Every year we characterize the best video and audio content of young researchers and newcomers on social media.
Contributions that prepare current research in an understandable and target group-friendly and offer the necessary AHA effect are awarded. Special plus points get contributions that activate and integrate your audience. The research topic is freely selectable. The contributions must be published on the Internet between March 14, 2024 and April 30, 2025 and publicly accessible via a link. In the main competition, videos and audios can be submitted for three awards: the Young Scientist Award with the subcategories long and shorts and the audio award. There are also two special prices for the best debut video and the best debut audio.
The submission period for all awards is April 30, 2025. The award ceremony will take place in autumn 2025. More information under www.fastforwardscience.de
The multimedia competition Fast Forward Science, endowed with a total of € 9,000, is a joint project of science in the dialogue and the founder association and has been taking place annually since 2013. Partner of the Young Scientist Award is the German Future Prize.
What and who? [Awards und Teilnehmende]
Fast Forward Science distinguishes outstanding scientific audio and video articles. In five award categories, participants can demonstrate their communication skills-with three categories in the main competition and two special prices for the best debut.
In three categories, applicants have the opportunity to present their scientific communication. The Young Scientist Award (Short & Long) honors outstanding video posts, while the Audio Award distinguishes excellent scientific hearing formats. The winners of the first places each receive € 2,000, the second places are endowed with € 1,000.

The Young Scientist Award is aimed at students, doctoral students and post-docs (up to six years after the doctorate) who want to bring their research into understandable and exciting by means of video content. Both beginners and experienced creators are welcome – the convincing and appealing mediation of scientific content and the relevance for society are crucial. The award is divided into two categories:
- Short: Science explained in a short and concise – in a maximum of 3 minutes.
- Long: Extensive scientific content depicted in depth – from 3 minutes.
The German Future Prize is partner of the Young Scientist Awards.

The Audio Award distinguishes scientific audio formats of any length. Regardless of the scientific or professional background, the ability to convey scientific content in an understandable, exciting and target group -friendly.

The special prices are aimed at participants who are newly active in Wisskomm – regardless of the scientific or professional background. It is crucial for participation that the first post on the channel was published in the period of the current competition round – i.e. between March 14, 2024 and April 30, 2025. Special prices are divided into two categories:
- Best debut video: For new video creators who want to try out in Wisskomm and expand their online presence.
- Best debut Audio: For young audio creators who want to establish themselves in scientific audio communication.
The winners of the special prices receive an individual content consultation with an experienced expert from the industry.
How? [Checklist]
Between February 03 and April 30, 2025, contributions can be submitted to Fast Forward Science 2025. The submission is uncomplicated:
➢ You load up to three contributions on the platforms of your choice.
➢ You state in the contribution information that you are at Fast Forward Science and for which award you apply-happy to use the (awards-specific) hashtags and a link to the competition.
➢ You fill out the application form on the website.

How are the contributions assessed? [Auswahlverfahren]
The award winners are selected by a jury that consists of experts from different areas such as media, science communication, podcasts and film. They are all equally voting. Each contribution is assessed by several jurors with the help of an evaluation sheet. Evaluation criteria include, for example, content, intelligibility, structure of the contributions as well as accessibility and interaction options. The specific criteria for the individual awards can be viewed in the conditions of participation. Following the assessment of the contributions, the final winners are selected in a joint jury session.
What happens when? [Der Ablauf]
From February 03, 2025, contributions to the competition can be submitted. The application deadline is April 30, 2025. In July 2025 the jury session takes place and decides on the winners of the respective awards. The winners will be announced in autumn 2025. The award ceremony then takes place.
