Nextbase introduces the world’s first smart connected dashcam: the Nextbase iQ. The camera now also points inwards, the dashcam gives alerts in the event of driver drowsiness or distraction and the voice-activated Witness Mode warns the partner in case of danger and stores evidence.

Nextbase is the market leader in dashcams and known for models such as the Nextbase 622GW. Nextbase will introduce their latest dashcam at the CES electronics show in Las Vegas: the Nextbase iQ. This dashcam aims to turn any car into a smart car by using the latest AI technology. The Nextbase iQ brings features that consumers know from smart home systems to every type of car, making cars smarter, safer and more reliable.

Dashcam gives alert in case of sleepiness or distraction driver
In the past, dashcams mainly focused on what goes on outside the car. The Nextbase iQ is equipped with 4K video technology and features three fully integrated cameras that record footage both outside and inside the vehicle. The Nextase iQ provides real-time alerts in the event of danger via Driver Aware technology (DMS), for example when the driver becomes distracted or sleepy.

Voice-activated Witness Mode warns partner of danger
In response to the increasing number of incidents on the road (for example in the case of road rage or traffic congestion) and possible fear among drivers, the Nextbase iQ also features Witness Mode. A voice-activated recording function immediately starts recording, after which everything is automatically stored in the cloud as evidence. These images are also shared directly with a designated contact person (for example a partner), so that they are immediately informed if the driver is in a stressful situation.
“In today’s market, no dashcam comes close to the level of the Nextbase iQ,” said Richard Browning, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer for Nextbase. “The iQ uses AI technology and cloud connectivity to send drivers safer and more confident on the road. This is the most complete dashcam ever.”

Real-time access and anticipation of incidents
The Nextbase iQ protects passengers, drivers and vehicles through AI-powered, cloud-connected Nextbase NXT technology. With the Nextbase iQ, drivers everywhere have real-time access to the on-board camera system, even when they are not in or near the car. Spatial Awareness Technology uses artificial intelligence to alert the driver to imminent danger, both inside and outside the vehicle.
The 4K, tri-cam IR video system, the world’s only connected video system, delivers up to 4K images to the front and 1440p images to the rear and indoors both day and night.

Driver safety
The Nextbase iQ improves driver safety, including through Roadwatch AI, which monitors the speeds and movements of other vehicles in real time. In addition, the Emergency SOS (ESOS) function automatically alerts emergency services, including location and other important details, after a serious accident. This functionality was already introduced in the Series 2 dashcam series.

Vehicle Security
Via the Nextbase iQ app, drivers receive instant alerts and access to video images, even when they are not in their vehicle. In addition, the dashcam features real-time tracking with a built-in ultra-accurate GPS system and synchronized real-time video. The Smart Sense Parking feature monitors the environment when the vehicle is parked, while drivers receive incident notifications via the Nextbase iQ app.

Price and availability
It is not yet known what the Nextbase iQ smart dashcam will cost. The product is expected to be available from fall 2022.
