High quality with matte finish
For the first time, Nomad has chosen to provide their popular Sport Case with a matte finish. In recent years the sporty cover had a shiny back, but this has now been replaced by a satin matte look. In my opinion, this looks much more stylish and fits better with the premium look that the accessory maker always strives for.
The shiny back always had a tendency to attract fingerprints. This is less with the matte version because they are simply less noticeable. The contrast with the sides is also smaller, making the cover more of a whole.
Bumper for fall protection and grip
The TPE bumper around the case provides extra protection, with a thickness of 1.9 mm it offers protection against a fall from a maximum height of 2.4 meters. The corners of the bumper are extra reinforced so that they will absorb the greatest impact in the event of a fall.
The bumper not only increases fall protection, it also gives extra grip to the case. There is a groove on the side in which your fingers rest. This makes the cover feel thinner than it actually is and gives you a good grip.
The screen is additionally protected with a 1.15 mm protruding edge, which allows you to place the iPhone with the screen down on a table without directly hitting the screen.
The camera part on the back also has a TPE edge. Because this protrudes an extra 1.15 mm, the camera lenses are protected against scratches when you place the iPhone on a table, for example.
A soft microfiber protective layer has been applied to the inside of the case to prevent scratches on your iPhone.
Easier to operate the screen
In recent years we have used Nomad cases more often to protect our iPhone. I discovered something new in the iPhone 16 series. This makes the screen easier to operate. It appears that Nomad has adjusted the edge around the screen and made it more rounded. You will notice this clearly at the bottom. This makes it easier to swipe up to open the app switcher or close an app, for example.
Buttons and camera controller
The volume buttons, action button and on/off button are made of aluminum and protrude slightly, making them easy to operate. The color of the buttons matches the color of the bumper so that they are less noticeable.
The camera controller is neatly incorporated into the cover without being unnecessarily noticeable. Nomad has opted for a precise recess that follows the regulator exactly. The edges also slope gently upwards so that you can easily operate the camera controller and the case does not get in the way.
It is a stylish solution without adding an extra button. I enjoy working. At first I had the official Apple case with an integrated sapphire crystal button that is connected with a conductive layer, but this was not so convenient. I pressed the button too often unintentionally. I don’t have this problem with the Nomad cover.
Wireless charging with MagSafe support
All Nomad cases have support for wireless charging and are equipped with a magnetic MagSafe ring. This makes the case fully compatible with a MagSafe charger. The magnets are strong enough so that you can also use the iPhone in Standby mode in combination with the case.

The Nomad Sport Case for the iPhone 16 series is, as we expect from the manufacturer, of excellent quality. The cover is perfectly finished, the TPE bumper provides extra grip and provides good fall protection. The edge around the display is more rounded, making it easier to operate the screen and still protect it when your iPhone is lying flat on the table.
The precise recess for the camera controller is neatly solved and ensures that you do not press the button unintentionally. The other aluminum buttons are also sleek, sturdy and easy to use.
Finally, I am very pleased with the matte finish. This makes the case less sensitive to fingerprints and scratches. In addition, it gives the cover an extra premium look.
