Nothing Phone (1) has over 900 LED lights on the back

In a video by the well-known Youtuber MKBHD we get to see the front and back of the Nothing Phone (1), and in this we see something unique. The back of the Nothing Phone (1) contains more than 900 LED lights that form a unique pattern. But do these LED lights, besides giving a unique and special design, offer more functionalities?

Nothing Phone (1)

The Nothing Phone (1) is an upcoming smartphone from the relatively new brand ‘Nothing’. A company that we know, among other things, from the Nothing Ear (1). On March 23, Carl Pei, the owner of Nothing and one of the founders of OnePlus, announced that he wanted to launch a new phone. Several images and specifications of the device have already surfaced. You can read more about this in this article and in articles below.

In addition to these images, we now see the Nothing Phone (1) appear in a video from MKBHD (Marques Brownlee). In this video he is only allowed to show the front and back of the device. Probably a marketing ploy by Nothing in which Marques, a channel with a very large reach, is only allowed to show a small part of the smartphone. This brings Nothing more known, and Marques many viewers because he is the only one who can and may show the Nothing Phone (1) in this way. In the images we can see that the previous renders of the device are confirmed. Marques also gives us a unique insight into the most special ‘function’ of the device, the LED lighting on the back of the smartphone.

Light show on the back

As mentioned above, the back of the Nothing Phone (1) contains 900 LED lights. These are located around the camera and around the place where you can charge the phone wirelessly. Besides the fact that this gives the phone its own face, there are also functions associated with it. For example, you can set the lights to light up when you receive a notification, they can serve as an extra light source for photos and the lighting can indicate the status of the device when it is charging. With the latter you will be shown to what extent the device is charged. The fuller the LED strip, the fuller the phone.

All these features are combined in the Glyph interface. In this interface you can enable or disable the functions, adjust and set them according to your wishes. Another function of the LED lighting is that you can have it move along with a ringtone. You can see more about this in the MKBHD video. The video can be found below. The Nothing Phone (1) has to be announced on July 12. You can see and read our findings in a preview, review and/or through other content on Androidworld.

What do you think of the LED lighting of the Nothing Phone (1)? Do you think it’s a cool new feature or rather a gimmick? Let us know in the comments below this article. We are very curious!
