The 2023 Formula 1 season will start in Bahrain on the weekend of 3 to 5 March and Nyck de Vries’ ultimate dream will come true: racing in the premier class of motorsport. The documentary ‘Nyck de Vries: Dare to Dream’ can be seen exclusively on Viaplay from today.
Nyck de Vries now has a CV that many other drivers are jealous of, but championships in karting, Formula 2 and Formula E cannot compete with racing in Formula 1. After signing a multi-year contract with AlphaTauri, the focus was on an intensive training program. In Dubai, Nyck de Vries tells the Viaplay cameras about his journey to Formula 1.
Nyck de Vries Dare to dream
In ‘Nyck de Vries: Dare to Dream’, the 28-year-old Dutchman talks about his journey full of special highlights, but also serious setbacks. De Vries delves into the past and goes back to his very first time in a kart, looks back on the switch to formula cars and reflects on a number of key moments in his career: opting for Plan B and certainty, or taking risks and continuing to hope for a seat in Formula 1? He also gives Viaplay’s cameras exclusive access to his training camp, where he physically prepared for his debut season in Formula 1 during the winter break. There he also talks about the conclusion of the contract with AlphaTauri and looks extensively ahead at his debut season at the racing stable from Faenza. How does it feel for him to be part of the Red Bull family, and what is he most looking forward to in 2023?
Nyck de Vries: “The past few months have been a rollercoaster of emotions. It was always my dream to make it to Formula 1 and that dream has now come true. I have been working towards this all my life with my family. I’m happy to share the story with Viaplay’s viewers in Dare to Dream. Next year we will continue to share stories during the Grand Prix weekends and in special programs. Formula 1 is a rollercoaster and never stands still. So I’m looking forward to the season. We will start with the pre-season test days from February 23 and the week after that the new season will really start with the Bahrain Grand Prix. I can’t wait for the lights to go out.”
