Off-road driving in Italy illegal

If we are to believe the well-oiled marketing machines of many manufacturers, the hardcore Dual Purpose is the new Supersport, but off-road driving is being restricted in more and more countries. This is also the case in Italy, where it is illegal to drive through forests from today.

Off-road driving in Italy illegal

We’ve been wondering for a while why more and more brands have turned their focus completely to off-road with Dual Purpose models, as more and more countries are limiting off-road driving. For example, in France it is even forbidden to publish photos in an off-road setting where no road can be recognized.

In Italy, a federal decree has been in effect since October that prohibits motor vehicles from driving through forests and fields on paths narrower than 2.5 meters. Only vehicles that are necessary for maintenance are still allowed.

Now that the official deadline to appeal has expired, the decree automatically became law on December 16, allowing individual regions to better enforce enforcement. Motorcyclists who are in violation can expect hefty fines.

The law is not only directed against motorcyclists, but against all motorized traffic and mountain bikes, including electrically powered motorcycles. Noise or exhaust fumes played no role in the decision-making process.
