Official: Apple Unveils iPadOS 15 With Better Widgets and More

Apple has officially presented iPadOS 15. The new software for iPads can be downloaded from this fall and allows you to multitask more easily. Here’s everything you need to know about iPadOS 15.

Apple officially unveils iPadOS 15

At the WWDC 2021 event, Apple officially presented iPadOS 15. The new iPad software is the successor to iPadOS 14 and can be downloaded from this fall. Prior to this, you can download a test version to get started with the new functions.

1. Widgets are becoming flexible

The biggest improvement in iPadOS 15 is that you can now place widgets anywhere on the iPad home screen. In the previous version, the expanded versions of apps still had a fixed place and were therefore not very flexible.

Furthermore, Apple uses the iPadOS 15 update to introduce new widgets. For example, you can get started with a special Game Mode widget and a new Photos widget.

2. App Library

The iPad learns from the iPhone. iPadOS 15 will get an App Library. We already know this from the iPhone: the Apple phone got this function last year with iOS 14.

The App Library collects the same type of apps – such as social media apps and games – and places them in well-arranged folders so that you have direct access to all your applications.

3. Multitasking Easier

iPadOS 15 focuses on multitasking. For example, Apple is adding new shortcuts, the Notes app becomes more powerful (you can mention others, for example, like in Google Drive), and it’s easier to open multiple apps, temporarily hide them in the new bar at the bottom, and open them again when you need them.

iPadOS 15 Quick Notes

Speaking of notes, iPadOS 15 adds a new feature: Quick Note. Swiping from the bottom right of the screen will bring up a memo sheet on your screen. Then you can make a quick note.

4. Translate app comes to iPad

Another iPhone feature is making the switch to the iPad. iPadOS 15 will get a real Translation app. As the name suggests, you use this app to translate an unknown language. However, the Translation app does not speak Dutch for the time being, but does speak English, for example.
