Pair AirPods with an Apple Watch and check battery status

Anyone who owns an Apple Watch and AirPods can of course also use them together, useful when exercising. Once you have linked the AirPods to your iPhone and iCloud, the connection is also known on the Watch and you can use them immediately.

When starting music, you can immediately choose the AirPods to play audio on. If the connection is not made automatically, you still have the option to do this manually. We explain how.

Link AirPods to an Apple Watch

Have you connected the AirPods to your iPhone? Then in most cases you can use it directly on the Apple Watch. You often still have to select them as output when playing music or podcasts. Does the Apple Watch not yet connect to the AirPods? Then you can do this manually.

  • Open Settings on the Apple Watch
  • Go to ‘Bluetooth’
  • Activate search mode on the AirPods
  • Select the AirPods from the list
  • Connect

Once the AirPods are paired with your Apple Watch, you can establish a connection. In most cases this will not happen automatically, because the iPhone is often connected first. You can then connect in two ways.

  • Remove the AirPods from the case â–¸ open Settings on the Apple Watch â–¸ Bluetooth â–¸ tap the AirPods in the list to connect
  • Remove the AirPods from the case â–¸ press the side button â–¸ it control panel opens â–¸ tap the triangle symbol with waves â–¸ choose the AirPods

From the Music and Podcasts app it is also possible to connect directly to Apple’s headphones. While playing audio, tap the three dots at the top right, tap AirPlay, then select the AirPods.

Consult the battery status of the AirPods on an Apple Watch

Open Control Center and tap the Apple Watch battery percentage. The battery app opens. Scroll down to view the battery status of accessories.
