PC shuts itself down: this is how you solve it

Sometimes you are on your Windows 10 computer and then the system suddenly shuts down. That can be due to several things. In this article we will discuss the options that you have to prevent your PC from shutting down.

For example, it can help Quick Boot to turn off. With the function activated, the PC starts up quickly, but different drivers sometimes have trouble with this. Open the Start menu and type ‘power management and sleep mode‘ in. Open the first option and then press on the right Additional power settings†

In the new window, click on the left on ‘Determining the behavior of the power buttons† Several options now appear on the screen; at the bottom of the page, uncheck Enable fast startup (recommended).

If the problems persist, there is one more option. For example, switch the Sleep mode to prevent the PC or laptop from going into sleep mode. You can find those options under Power management and sleep mode† Under the cups Screen and Sleep mode choose the option from the drop-down menus Never†

Update drivers

It may also help to check the drivers on your computer. When drivers use old software or show problems, it can affect the functioning of your computer. To check your drivers, open the Start menu and type Device Manager in.

Open the first option. A new window opens with a long list of devices and parts. Choose the parts you want to update by right-clicking on them. Then choose the option to update the driver.

You can choose from two options: you can search via the internet, but you can also use a local file. First check whether your computer automatically update finds. If not, go to the hardware vendor’s website to see if there’s any new software. Is that the case? Then download the update and install it via the local option.

PC too hot?

Finally, it is wise to check that your PC does not accidentally get too hot. If your PC really gets too hot, there are a number of solutions. For example, you can remove dust from the fan outputs with a can of compressed air. Hold the can six inches away and clean the openings.

In addition, make sure that the ventilation has enough space to dissipate its heat. So don’t put anything in front of the openings. Also, do not place your computer or laptop near a heat source.
