Philips Hue lights jam along to Spotify’s music

Philips Hue gets Spotify integration. Soon your lamps will shine and change color to the beat of the music. It works together with the Bridge and all colored lights of the brand. Starting September 1, the feature will be beta tested.

Philips Hue and Spotify

Philips Hue is entering into a partnership with Spotify, which it will announce at the IFA event. Soon you will be able to play music on a device of your choice and then synchronize your colored lights with it. This works with all colored lamps from Philips Hue and in combination with the Bridge. You also need to have a Spotify account, of course, but you don’t need to be a Premium subscriber to use the feature.

As soon as you play music, an advanced lighting script is created that allows your lights to respond not only to the beat of the song, but also to the genre and atmosphere. In the Sync tab of the new Philips Hue app, you can adjust the brightness, intensity and even the color palette of your lights to personalize the experience.

Dynamic scenes

In addition to the integration with Spotify, Signify, the manufacturer of Philips Hue lamps, is also rolling out its ‘dynamic scenes’. These are scenes where the lights automatically and slowly transition through the different colors used in the scene.

There are also specially designed scenes that last 24 hours, and the lamps adjust their color and brightness as time goes by. The first new scene, ‘Natural Light’, mimics the movement of the sun during the day with warm to cool white light. The time blocks can be adjusted based on your daily routine.

availabilty

The experience will be available to a group of beta testers first, starting September 1. The feature will be rolled out to all users after October 2021. Signify also launched a new range of lamps at IFA. What do you think of the new scenes features and Spotify integration? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
