Provide text with a clickable link on iPhone, iPad or Mac

Since iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, you can finally provide text with a clickable link in Mail and notes, among others. This way you can easily link website URLs to specific texts so that the layout of an e-mail message or note becomes clearer.

In previous versions of iOS and iPadOS it was not possible to provide standard text with a clickable link. You then had to add the URL separately to the document, which sometimes resulted in unnecessarily long links. In addition, you can also easily convert text into a handy clickable link on a Mac.

  • First copy the URL in Safari, for example
  • Then open Notes, Mail or other word processor
  • Navigate to the desired document or message
  • Then highlight the text you want to provide with a clickable link
  • In the pop-up menu, search for ‘Add link’ and choose this option

You can then paste the URL and link it to the highlighted text. Repeat this for all text that you want to provide with a clickable link.

Also suitable for Mac

Do you also want to provide text with a URL on your Mac, for example in Notes or Mail? Then you can easily do this by selecting the desired text. Then click on the text with a secondary click (right mouse button), select ‘Add link’ from the context menu and link the desired link to the selected text.
