In most cases, the PS4 controller works fine. When you press the PS button to turn on the console, the console turns on by itself. But what if that doesn’t work anymore because you used the controller on another device? There are simple solutions for that.
Normally if you press the PS button on the PS4 controller while the console is off, the console will activate and you will be able to play shortly afterwards. But sometimes this doesn’t work and the controller shows some flashes with the LED light on top. This happens, for example, when the controller was connected to a PC or another PlayStation console. When the PS4 controller no longer connects to the game console, then reconnecting is the motto.
Fortunately, this is not a difficult process. There are, however, things that you have to take into account. For example, make sure there are no other paired devices nearby. Think of a PS5, a smartphone or tablet or a PC. If they are nearby, the Bluetooth connection must be turned off there. Or you can switch off the mentioned devices completely for a short period of time. Are all the jammers off the air? Then it’s time to tackle the problem.
Reconnect PS4 controller
The first solution is quite simple: connect the PS4 controller via a micro USB cable (included). Turn on the PlayStation 4 and plug the USB cable into one of the console’s ports. It is recommended to do this on the back. But if the gates there are full, the gates in front must suffice. Now plug the other end of the cable into the controller. Wait a while for it to charge a bit. After about thirty to sixty minutes you are ready to connect.
Hold the cable in the console and controller and press the PS button. The PlayStation 4 should now beep and turn on, after which the PS4 controller will automatically connect. Can’t connect this way? Then try another micro USB controller and start again. If that doesn’t work either, the controller may need to be replaced.
Before that, though, you can try resetting the PS4 controller first. Turn off the PS4 and disconnect it from the Internet. Unplug the Ethernet cable and unplug the router. That’s rigorous, but perhaps necessary: Wi-Fi signals can disrupt the pairing process. Turn the PS4 controller upside down and locate the deep reset button (below the L2 button). Grab a paperclip and press the button for five seconds. Then connect the controller to the PS4 via the micro USB cable and turn on the console. Now press the PS button and wait until you hear a beep. As soon as you hear the beep, you know that the controller is paired and you can restore the internet.
