QR code scan

Seen a QR code somewhere? Simply scan this code with the phone’s camera and relevant information is immediately available.

We are increasingly encountering QR codes. For example on products in the supermarket, in magazines and on posters. With that QR code, people get more information about, for example, the product or brand. Think of information about nutritional values or recipes. But QR codes can also be found in restaurants so that customers can view the menu online or on collection boxes for money donations.

With a QR code, people therefore immediately reach relevant information on a site. Anyone who sees a QR code somewhere can scan this square black and white barcode with the camera of the smartphone. A tap on a link that has appeared will immediately open the corresponding site.

Scan a QR code with an iPhone like this:

  • Open the Camera app.
  • Pretend to take a picture of the QR code. To do this, point the camera at the QR code. Do this with the rear lens (so don’t use the selfie camera).
  • The QR code will appear on the screen. Fully visualize the QR code.
  • The device tries to recognize the code. A notification will then appear at the top of the screen to open the underlying site of the QR code. Tap the notification.

Scan QR codes on an Android device with Google Lens. Download the app first if it is not already on the smartphone. Then scan a QR code like this:

  • Make sure the app Google Lens is installed.
  • Open the Camera app.
  • Point the camera at the QR code. Fully visualize the QR code.
  • A notification will appear at the bottom with the underlying link of the QR code. Tap the notification.
