Under iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, Apple has adjusted the design and way of consulting iMessage apps in the Messages application. Using the plus button you can immediately open an overview of your iMessage apps. Unfortunately, there is no longer a shortcut directly available for Photos, or is there?
Using a clever trick, you can quickly open the photo picker so you can immediately select a photo or video you want to send. That saves a few taps.
Open Photo Picker Messages app
- Open the Messages app on your iPhone or iPad
- Navigate to a conversation
- Place your finger on the plus button
- Wait a few moments
- The photo picker opens immediately

Select the desired photos and/or videos and tap the send button to send them to the recipient(s).
Thanks to this shortcut you quickly have access to your photo library. Don’t you use this trick? Then you can open the photo browser by tapping the plus button, searching the list for ‘Photos’ and then selecting it.
