From now on you finally no longer need the Rabo Scanner for an iDEAL payment. From now on, you simply use the Rabo app on your iPhone to scan a QR code. That is how it works.
iDEAL payment with QR code
Rabobank quietly released the update last week, the new version is now available to everyone. Many other banks have been able to scan a QR code directly from the app for some time, but every banking app has a slightly different approach. At Rabobank it now works as follows:
- Choose an iDEAL payment in the webshop;
- Select Rabobank and press ‘Pay’;
- A qr code will now appear in the iDEAL screen. If not, select ‘Pay with qr’ at the bottom;
- Open the Rabo App on your iPhone;
- Press the green ‘Scan QR’ button;
- Keep the camera of your iPhone pointed at the qr code on your PC or laptop;
- Confirm your payment in the Rabo App.
Rabo Scanner is a thing of the past
Until now, Rabobank customers always had to use a Rabo Scanner when making a payment. If you made a payment on a PC or laptop, you first had to put your card in the scanner. With this you could scan a color code and you were shown a signing code.
That is now a thing of the past. From now on, customers can choose to pay with their iPhone instead of the Rabo Scanner. Would you rather pay with the Rabo Scanner? That too is still possible.

Rabobank has been phasing out the Rabo Scanner for some time. For example, in 2018 the bank announced that it was going to stop using the Rabo Scanner. That took a little longer than planned, but luckily the bank was faster with Apple Pay. The bank also has the highest payment limit for payments with Apple Pay.
