The Pl@ntNet app is a handy application for identifying plants. Photos will show you plants that resemble them and help you determine which species it is.
Compare photos
If you want to know which plant species you have in your area, you can use the Pl@ntNet app. The app, originally French, can be operated in Dutch. He works on the basis of photos from users worldwide. The app compares a photo of a plant with photos taken previously.
To identify a plant, you give the app permission to use the camera and the photo app. Then you take a picture of the plant in question. Then you decide how you want to compare the plant, for example on the basis of the flowers or the leaves. It is convenient to choose characteristic parts. The app will search for photos of plants that resemble it.
There will be an overview with ‘candidates’. There are pictures of different plants and their names. Is the desired plant listed? Then tap Confirm to indicate that the plant has been recognized. If you create a (free) account via the app, you can help other people get to know plants via the photos. The more people participate, the more plants the app gets to know.
The app can be downloaded for free from the Play Store (Android) and the App Store (Apple).
