Did you know you can remotely silence or snooze a family member’s alarm using Siri? Of course, this must use the alarm clock function on an iPhone, Apple Watch or HomePod.
The voice assistant uses family sharing for this, also known as family sharing. Because the family members are integrated into the iOS system, Siri can then control functions remotely, one of which is managing alarm clocks.
Conditions: switch off alarm clock remotely
You cannot just switch off someone’s alarm clock remotely, but you must meet a number of conditions.
- Both users must have an iPhone, Apple Watch or HomePod
- Family Sharing (iCloud Family Sharing) must be turned on
- The alarm clock must be set on the Apple device in the default clock app
Turn off a family member’s alarm with Siri
Is a family member’s alarm going off? Then you can stop it remotely using Siri. Activate the voice assistant and say the command: Set the alarm [naam] out. You may still need to confirm the action. You can also snooze the alarm clock, so that it will play again after 9 minutes. You then use the voice command Snooze the alarm [naam].
If you want to turn off the alarm on a HomePod in your home, you can also ask Siri to do this with the command: Set the alarm [naam HomePod] out or Snooze the alarm [naam HomePod].
Siri will go to work and will turn off or snooze this person’s alarm clock. Of course, you should only switch off or snooze this alarm clock if necessary, as the person in question has to wake up.
